Donating Books and Journals

Donation of Private Collections

To further enrich its holdings, the University of Tsukuba Library welcomes donations of academic materials that contribute to the education and research at the University of Tsukuba.
When you want to donate materials, refer to the following points, and send the items to the below address if you agree with the conditions.

Notes to Donors

  1. The donated materials will be entrusted to the library, including decisions on acceptance, and the handling of materials if unaccepted. The individual results of acceptance will not be notified.
  2. The library may decline donations in the following cases:
2-1. The University of Tsukuba Library already holds the material. (Details on the library’s holdings can be checked on OPAC.)
2-2. The material has been written in, soiled, or damaged
2-3. The material is a bound duplicate (photocopy)
2-4. The materials do not meet the library’s acceptance criteria
  3. The accepted materials will be stored according to the library’s stacking rules. In principle, the donations will not be classified/located as a collection.
  4. The library will not bear the shipping costs of donations. The library will return unaccepted materials only if the donor pays for the shipping cost.
  5. Consult the library beforehand when sending large amounts of materials.
