Inter-Library Loan: Books/Articles (Univ. Expence)

Before use

About payment
The fee of this service will be burdened by the whole university common expenses.
We will inform you of the fee, but there is no deduction from individual research expenses.
Pre-registration
Before using, Budget Registration Code(BRC) and registration for library web services required.

Inter-Library Loan: Books

Time till delivery
Delivery within Japan: Delivered in 1-2 weeks(\1,500-\2,000 per book)
Delivery from overseas: Delivered in 1-3 months (not determined; several thousand to \10,000?)
Loan period: in accordance to the loaning entity’s policy
Delivery within Japan: Usually delivered in 10 to 20 days
Delivery from overseas: Depends on the supplying library
Loaning conditions: in accordance to the supplying library’s policy
Library materials hard to borrow: journals, rare books, reference books, large-sized books, books with traditional Japanese binding, very old books, new publications, easily purchasable books, and audiovisual materials.
Due to the supplying library’s policy, there may be cases where the book can only be used within the University of Tsukuba Library, or the borrower cannot make photocopies of the book.

How to apply

Apply Online
  1. Search materials in the database
    • Click the Tulips Linker displayed in each database. → Click "Copy request (University expense)" in the "Get it from another library (ILL)" item.
      OR
    • Select "CiNii Books" in OPAC and search for books. → Click "Loan-university exp./KAKENHI" on search result details screen.
    ★If you cannot apply from the web form because of the lack of the bibliographic information, please contact us by email. →To:voice@tulips.tsukuba.ac.jp
  2. Enter your user ID (13 digit) and password (no need if already logged in)
    If "the main BRC" has been linked, the code will be called automatically.
  3. Fill in the application page
    ★Entering precise and detailed information will help you get the book faster.
    • One application per book.
    • For books that come in several volumes, apply separately by for each volume.
    • As a general rule,you cannot cancel after application.
  4. Application complete! You will receive an e-mail confirmation.
    ★If you do not receive e-mail confirmation after 12 hours, the application may have failed.

Apply at the Library

Please fill out the Inter-Library Loan Application at the reference desk and submit it there during the reception hours of each desk, or send it by the on-campus mail.

Recieving the book

A notification will be sent to your registered e-mail address when the book is ready.
Please come directly to the desk during the reception hours.

Returning the book

  • Return the book to the reference desk where you applied.
    * Since the book is not held by the University of Tsukuba Library, you cannot return it to the main counter or the book-drop.
  • Be sure to return the book by the due date. (If overdue, you may be charged an express delivery fee.)

Inter-Library Loan: Articles

※ The off-campus article copy request and e-DDS application methods have been integrated since 7th April, 2021.
If you are using e-DDS for the first time, please see "Article Digital Copy Delivery within the University of Tsukuba (e-DDS by Univ. Expense)".

Time till Delivery
On-campus materilas(e-DDS): Notification by email in 2-3 days (\20/page, Regardless of black and white or color)
Delivery within Japan: Delivered in about 1 week(Black and white \30-\50/page, Color \80-\100/page + Postage \80-\200)
Delivery from overseas: Delivered in about up to 2 months(not determined; several thousand to \10,000?)
Photocopying of the library material will be done within the bounds of the Copyright Law, and may not be available for some materials.Copyright Law Compliance

How to apply

Apply Online
  1. Search articles/journals in the database
    • Click the Tulips Linker displayed in each database. → Click "Copy request (University expense)" in the "Get it from another library (ILL)" item.
      OR
    • Select "CiNii Books" in OPAC and search for the journal. → Click "Photocopy-unibersity exp./ KAKENHI" on search result details screen.
      OR
    • In case you can not apply with Tulips Linker and OPAC, please request from "New request" in “My Library”.
  2. Enter your user ID (13 digit) and password (no need if already logged in)
    If "the main BRC" has been linked, the code will be called automatically.
  3. Fill in the application page
    ★Entering precise and detailed information will help you get the book faster.
    • One application per article.
    • Articles that are printed over several issues, such as special features, require a separate application for each issue.
    • Serial articles etc. require separate application if published in different issues.
    • If you want to use the materials on campus by visiting directly, Please set the "Sending e-DDS when in the library" item to "Not necessary".
    • As a general rule, you cannot cancel after application.
  4. Application complete! You will receive an e-mail confirmation.
    ★If you do not receive e-mail confirmation after 12 hours, the application may have failed.

Apply at the Library

Please fill out the Photocopy Application Form for Inter-Library Loan at the reference desk and submit it there during the reception hours of each desk, or send it by the on-campus mail.

Recieving the photocopies

Photocopies ordered from off-campus will be sent by on-campus mail.
According to your needs, you can also hand it over directly at the reference desk.When applying online, please indicate it in "the message to the library".
As for e-DDS, you will be notified by e-mail the URL to access the file.
