Some publishers require authors to pay APC (Article Processing Charge) if they wish to arrange their articles for open access.
Members of University of Tsukuba may be able to receive waivers or discounts of APC based on the contract and subscription of University of Tsukuba.

The information listed below is what Library has gathered. In addition, if the author is a member of an academic society that publishes the journal, the author may be able to receive APC discounts. Please refer to the website of each journal when you submit articles.
University of Tsukuba requires to unify the method of inputting the expenditure on article submission (including APC) to FAIR Financial Accounting System.

|American Chemical Society (ACS)||All titles||Members of University of Tsukuba can get APC discounts because University of Tsukuba is the “Subscribing Institution”.
If the author is a member of ACS, the discount rate is even higher.
|The Company of Biologists||
||University of Tsukuba has a Read & Publish agreement with The Company of Biologists. (Through the end of December, 2023)
If the corresponding author is a member of University of Tsukuba, the author can get an APC waiver.
The three titles published by The Company of Biologists are eligible for the APC waiver.
|National Academy of Sciences||Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS)||If the corresponding author is a member of University of Tsukuba and chooses the open access option, the author can get an APC discount.
