Notice of Library System Update (Service to begin March 1)

The Library plans to update the library system (Tulips) on March 1, 2024. A summary is provided below:

Improved Access to Electronic Resources

  • E-journals and e-books will be searchable on OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog). Both electronic and printed materials will be searchable together.

Digital Collection

  • We will provide digitized images of rare and valuable materials, etc., which is now available in OPAC, as a new digital collection service.
  • The service will be compatible with IIIF, an internationally widely used image sharing framework, facilitating the use of images and metadata.

Remote Access Service (Tulips Warp) Changes

  • EZproxy will be changes to the hosted version.
  • After the change, the part of the URL that used to be "" will become "".
  • There will be no change in usage, etc.

Tulips Search Changes

  • The service will be replaced by the discovery service Summon, which was previously offered as "Tulips Discovery".

About Library PCs and Printers (February 19-22, replacement)

  • Due to very tight budgets throughout the university, we have had to consider significant reductions in functionality when updating the library system. The number of the library's own PCs will be reduced, and printing functions will be unavoidably eliminated.
  • Students, faculty, and researchers have access to Zengaku (Campus-wide) computers and printers at each library. For detail, please see "Termination of free black-and-white printing service (500 pages per year) from the library printer".
  • The function that allows access to sites other than the designated site from a library PC via a browser after authentication will be eliminated. Access will be allowed only to designated ones that are security-conscious.
  • New library PCs will be available after the replacement. The replacement schedule for each library is as follows.

Feb 19(Mon) Central Library
Feb 20(Tue) Art and Physical Education Library, Library on Library and Information Science
Feb 21(Wed) Medical Library
Feb 22(Thu) Otsuka Library

Termination of provision of some databases

The following databases, which is now provided only for designated PCs, will no longer be provided since they can be replaced by other databases.
