Suspension of some services involved in the renewal to the library system(Feb 15-29)

The University of Tsukuba Library is set to implement renewal procedure on the library system in February. By this operation, some services will be unavailable temporally.

February 29, 2:20 pm Partially reopened. Services requiring login are not yet available.

February 29, 3:30 pm Services requiring login have resumed. Please note that the facility reservation service will not be available until 5:00 pm.

Thursday 29, 17 pm Facility reservation service has resumed.

Book search (OPAC) (added on February 9 / revised on February 15 / added on February 19)

Services temporally unavailable on February 19 to 20 * Reopened on February 20, 12 pm

  • Tulips Search will be available, but you will not be able to search for library books and journals either.
  • Tulips Discovery will be available, but the link to OPAC will be disconnected during the suspension, and the call number of materials is not displayed.
  • As an alternative, please use the following. The link to OPAC will be disconnected during the suspension.
    • CiNii Books (Remote access)
      For University members, remote access is recommended. If the the University of Tsukuba Library has the material, it will appear above in the list of holding libraries. 
      Enter KI000174 in the Organization ID to narrow your search to only materials held by the University of Tsukuba. Search example (Remote access)

Loan status unavailable on February 21 to 29 * Reopened on February 29, 2:20 pm

  • OPAC is available, but cannot display loan status.

Book reservation and Book delivery services

You cannot reserve any books or use the book delivery service, either.
However, the case, where you've got an e-mail noticing your availability by February 16, is exceptional. In that case, you are expected to come to the Main Counter within a retention period.
Books which have been returned during the suspension period can be available upon completion of the procedure on the new system.

Renewal of loan period

You cannot renew any books.
We offer the long term loan in order for your due date not to be set in this period, so please renew your materials after renewal of the system.
You cannot also confirm any information on reservation. If your renewed books have been already reserved by anyone, you may need to return them after the system renewal.

! Notes on Lending

During this period, information on loans may not be confirmed.
We may contact you to ask you to return the books at a later date, in which case please return them promptly.

(For Facility Reservation, reopening hours have been changed (February 20). )

Application for Photocopy and Book Loan Service through the web

The loan period will be shorter than usual. Also, applications received after the beginning of February may be delivered later than usual.
Application through the web will not be available during a period from Monday, February 19, 9 am to Thursday, February 29, 2 pm.


You cannot use e-DDS during a period from Monday, February 19, 9 am to Thursday, February 29, 2 pm. You need to come to the library and copy materials you need by yourselves.
Any materials delivered by February 18 will need you to confirm and copy as soon as possible.
And any materials can not be available during e-DDS suspension.

Request for the Letter of Introduction (added on February 9)

Applications will not be accepted due to the suspension of the application form.
Please contact the reference desk of each library for urgent needs.

My Library

Due to the suspension of" My Library" on the web page, the following facilities will not be available.

  • E-mail notice for individual users
  • Information on new arrivals
  • Materials under request (Book reservation and delivery service)
  • Materials on loan (Renewal of loan period)
  • Book Purchase Request for students
  • Faculty book recommendations

As for "Book reservation and delivery service", "Renewal of loan period", "Facility Reservation", and "Request for the Letter of Introduction" please refer to the paragraphs each noted earlier.

Services temporally unavailable from February 19, 9 am to 29, 5 pm

Facility Reservation (reopening time changed on February 20)  * Reopened on February 29, 5 pm

The facility reservation system will be suspended. Please refer to "Facility reservation during the renewal to the library system" for the information on how to make reservations during this period.

Replacement of users' PCs and printers

All the users' PCs in each library will be replaced during a period from February 19 (Mon) to 22 (Thu).
While replacing PCs, you cannot use any PCs and printers. 
Please use Zengaku (Campus-Wide) Computers and printers.
