The Review and the Result of the Survey on Databases

We conducted a survey on databases which are purchased with Library budget from July 12 to August 9, 2019. The targeted persons of this survey are faculty members and students of University of Tsukuba, and we got 457 answers. We appreciate your cooperation.

We also conducted a research on the frequency of database use in University of Tsukuba and purchase status of other universities at the same time. Considering those results, the price increase of databases, and future library budget, the 3rd Library Steering Committee in FY2019 (held on September 18th, 2019) comprehensively determined that the contracts of 3 databases listed below will be terminated at the end of FY2019.

   ・ARRIDE (Institute of Developing Economies)

 ・OECD iLibrary (Books & Papers)

 ・Powder Diffraction File

The use of those 3 databases after FY2020 and alternative services are as follows.

・ARRIDE (Institute of Developing Economies)
The use of eBooks (“アジ研選書”, “研究双書”, and “情勢分析レポート”) which are published by Institute of Developing Economies will be terminated at the end of FY2019. Printed copies which are published until FY2019 are available in the Central Library, and we will purchase books by Institute of Developing Economies as necessary. Open Access resources by Institute of Developing Economies will be available as well.

・OECD iLibrary (Books & Papers)
On this database, publications until FY2019 will continue to be available and remain searchable after FY2020. When you need to access to publications which are published by OECD after FY2020, please visit OECD Tokyo Centre or use inter-library loan service.

・Powder Diffraction File
Data in this database will be updated until FY2019, but the database itself will be available until November 1st, 2024.

While we have received requests for new databases, we will not be able to purchase new databases due to the library future budget reduction.
