How to input Japanese characters

Turning on and off Japanese input method

• To turn on/off Japanese input method … with pressing [Alt] key, press [半角/全角] key.
  • Japanese input method is off:
  • Japanese input method is on: hiragana character 'あ' is indicated.
• To use 'kana' keyboard type … with pressing [Alt] key, press [カタカナ/ひらがな] key.
  • 'KANA' is shown in deeper color.

Romaji to kanji conversion

1. If you type a japanese word in romaji, it is automatically changed to hiragana characters. Before conversion, characters you typed are underlined with a broken line.
   
2. To convert to kanji, press space bar. The first choice is indicated in reversed color.
   
   If you want to set the characters, press [Enter] key. Every pressing of space bar will show another choice.
3. When you press space bar three times, choices are shown in a list, and selected one is in reversed color. You can choose by pressing space bar or arrow keys(↑↓), and set by pressing [Enter] key.
